About Our Partnership

The Southend School Sport Partnership was established in 2004. Prior to this only around 40% of children in the area were reaching the government target of 2 hours of quality PE a week.
Over the past few years the work of the partnership has helped rapidly improve these statistics. For the last two years we have been proud to boast that 100% of children are now participating in 2 hours of quality PE a week in eastern Southend, well above the government target.

The Southend SSCo aims to sustain this and continue to build a better future for all young people through PE and school sport.

We are proud to say that Thorpe Greenways Juniors representing the Southend East School Sports Partnership, came 3rd in the competition – So a huge congratulations to them! Even conditions close to the Antarctic couldn’t stop the mighty Thorpe Greenways Juniors battling their way all the way through to the semi-finals where they unfortunately missed their finals play-off opportunity to St Thomas Primary. A very close final game was between St Thomas Primary and Kingswood, who after playing the full game had no sign of a winner. After just 25 seconds of golden goal extra time St Thomas scored an outstanding goal with Kingswood just missing out on the top spot and placing 2nd. Congratulations to St Thomas Primary, who after a long day claimed 1st in the tournament, not only that, but well done to all attendees. Results from the tournament were as follows: 1st St Thomas Primary 2nd Kingswood 3rd Thorpe Greenways 4th Kingsmoore 5th Mildmay 6th Woodville 7th Richard De Clare 7th Thaxted 9th Leigh North Street 10th Rayleigh 11th Lambourne 12th Stanway Fiveways
