Year 5/6 Sports Hall Finals

Bournes Green, Bournemouth Park, Thorpe Greenways and Temple Sutton

Following last weeks successful sessions, today saw the battle of titans, the winning school qualifying to represent the Southend East School Sports Partnership at the Essex Finals!!! Schools that came through the semi final stages were Bournes Green, Bournemouth Park, Thorpe Greenways and Temple Sutton.

As this session was the final, the format was to revert back to the Essex rules, which included soft javelin throw and no non-scoring events. After all track and most of the field events the scores were all fairly level, this meant it came down to the soft jav and the speed bounce. Pupils throwing the javelins that were not practiced in the event threw the jav nearly half way across the hall, nearly impaling both Tracey’s in the process….eek!

Overall what a session! There were stumbles, ear piecing cheers, close finishes, all what you want in a final. Well done to all schools for attending and showing brilliant sportsmanship and professionalism, but there could only be one winner. Congratulations to Bournes Green junior who now go on to represent the Southend East SSP to battle for the crown of becoming Essex Sports Hall Athletics Champions!
